An Investment in Alabama Students
The Alabama Advantage Scholarship is a commitment to advancing the students of our state. It removes financial barriers that keep Alabama residents from carving their own path at UA.
Award
Alabama Advantage is a need-based scholarship for Alabama residents. After all other scholarships and grants have been applied, Alabama Advantage funds up to $5,000 of the remaining cost of in-state tuition. It is renewable for four years (eight semesters), as long as eligibility is maintained.
It does not cover fees, room and board, books or other charges.
Eligibility
To receive the Alabama Advantage Scholarship, students must:
- Be an Alabama resident (in-state student)
- Submit your UA Undergraduate App along with all supporting documents and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (see Timeline section below)
- Be eligible for the Pell Grant
- Enroll full time with at least 12 credit hours per semester
Students are automatically considered for Alabama Advantage as part of their admission application — no separate scholarship application is required.
