The University of Alabama offers generous scholarship opportunities for qualifying students. Students should be admitted and meet the deadlines below to qualify for automatic merit and competitive scholarships.
FIRST-TIME, MAIN-CAMPUS FRESHMEN TIMELINES
SPRING 2027
- August 3 – UA Undergraduate App Opens
- Your admission application includes your scholarship application for many scholarship opportunities.
- November 2 – Priority Deadline
- All application materials must be submitted by the priority deadline to ensure consideration for scholarships, including Alabama Advantage.
Spring applicants should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that opened in October of 2025. Please fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible after applying.
SUMMER AND FALL 2027

- December 4 – Priority Deadline
- All application materials must be submitted by the priority deadline to ensure consideration for scholarships.
- February – Scholarship Notifications
- Notifications are released for students who met the priority deadline. This release includes most competitive scholarships awarded by the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office.
- April – Scholarship Notifications
- Notifications are released for college and departmental scholarship awards.
- May 1 – Alabama Advantage Deadline
- Submit your application for admission and all supporting documents to maximize scholarship opportunities.

- May 1 – Automatic Merit Scholarship and Alabama Advantage Deadline
- Submit your application for admission and all supporting documents to maximize scholarship opportunities.
- Mid-May – Scholarship Notifications
- Notifications for automatic scholarships go out to students who met the May 1 deadline.
