The University of Alabama offers some of the most generous scholarship opportunities in the country for qualifying students. Students should be admitted and meet the deadlines below to qualify for automatic merit and competitive scholarships.
FIRST-TIME, MAIN-CAMPUS
FRESHMEN TIMELINES
SPRING 2025
- August 1 – The Undergraduate Application opens. Students may apply through either the UA Undergraduate App or the Common App. Your scholarship application is part of your admissions application.
- Priority Deadline – November 1 – First-time, main-campus freshmen who submit an admissions application and all supporting documents by November 1 will receive priority consideration for admission. Admitted students who meet the priority deadline will be considered for competitive scholarships and automatic merit scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to submit an admission application and all supporting documents by the November 1 priority deadline to ensure consideration.
- After November 1 – First-time, main-campus freshmen who submit an application and all supporting documents after November 1 will receive consideration for admission on a space available basis.
- October – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens.
- December 16 – Automatic merit scholarship deadline for admitted students.
- December 16 – Official score reports due for automatic merit consideration and for students who self-reported test scores on their application for admission.
- Mid-December – Freshman competitive and automatic scholarships are announced for admitted students.
SUMMER AND FALL 2025
- August 1 – The Undergraduate Application opens. Students may apply through both the UA Undergraduate App or the Common App. Your scholarship application is part of your application for admission.
- October – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens.
- Mid-December – Early round of UA Competitive Admissions and UA Competitive Achievement Scholarship will be released for students who are admitted by October 31.
- Priority Deadline – January 10 – First-time, main-campus freshmen who submit an admissions application and all supporting documents by January 10 will receive priority consideration for admission. Admitted students who meet the priority deadline will be considered for competitive scholarships and automatic merit scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to submit an admission application and all supporting documents by the January 10 priority deadline to ensure consideration. Students who are admitted by January 10 will gain access to the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM). The deadline to apply for scholarships in ASAM is January 10.
- After January 10 – First-time, main-campus freshmen who submit an admissions application and all supporting documents after January 10 will receive consideration for admission on a space available basis.
- Early March – Final round of competitive scholarship notifications released for students who submitted an admissions application and all supporting documents by January 10. This includes UA Competitive Admissions, UA Competitive Achievement, and Alabama Prestige Scholarships.
- Early April – Freshman with an admissions application and all supporting documents submitted by January 10 will receive notification of college and departmental scholarship awards.
- May 1 – Automatic merit scholarship deadline for admitted students.
- May 1 – Official score reports due for automatic merit consideration and for students who self-reported test scores on their application for admission.

SPRING 2025

- October 1 – Automatic merit scholarship and competitive scholarship deadline for admitted students. Students should submit an admissions application and all supporting documents by the October 1 deadline to ensure consideration.
